Four w3 Awards, Three Very Different Digital Experiences

Exciting news!

eDesign Interactive has won four awards at the 21st Annual w3 Awards.
One Gold. Three Silvers. Three very different clients. Three very different challenges.

And, as it turns out, one common thread: the best digital experiences don’t simply tell people what a brand does. They make people feel why it matters.

The w3 Awards, sanctioned by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts, recognize excellence in digital content, design, and experiences, with jurors drawn from leading organizations across the creative and technology industries.

What did we build that caught their attention?

Let’s start with a little dairy.

A Gold Award and a Tiny Cow Mascot

Green Valley Lactose Free had a deceptively simple problem: people saw “lactose-free” and assumed “dairy-free.”

For a company built around real milk, real cows, and real dairy craftsmanship, that’s a pretty important distinction.

Our challenge was to make the difference immediately clear, not through copywriting, but through the experience itself. The new website we built uses creamy whites, soft flowing shapes, playful details, product storytelling, recipes, health information, and, yes, an adorable little cow to communicate what Green Valley is all about before visitors even read the first paragraph.

The result earned Gold in General Websites – Food & Beverage.

But the bigger lesson here is one we come back to again and again: when your audience misunderstands your value proposition, visual design can do some of the explaining for you.

Sometimes the smartest design decision is knowing where to spend your budget. For Green Valley, we modernized the existing CMS rather than rebuilding it, so more of the investment could go toward what visitors actually experience: design, animation, interaction, and storytelling.

The site launched with a fresh digital identity while also improving visibility through stronger SEO and faster Google indexing.

In other words, working within constraints didn’t mean thinking smaller. It meant thinking smarter.

Two Decades Behind the Brand

Bon Appétit is an industry pioneer, operating more than 1,000 cafés across 33 states. Its business is built around culinary excellence, sustainability, thoughtful partnerships, and the belief that food should be something people enjoy, not something they rush through.

There was just one problem: their website had been around for two decades.

While the company had evolved dramatically, the old website hadn't and was underselling the brand.

Our solution was a complete digital rethink.

Instead of starting with colors, layouts, or trendy effects, we started with the story. We mapped the emotional and informational journey, rebuilt the information architecture, created distinct paths for different audiences, and developed a visual language that felt as confident and expressive as the brand itself.

And then we did something that sounds obvious but is surprisingly rare online:

We used real people. No stock photography.

Our team traveled to Philadelphia to capture Bon Appétit in action, while the company also opened up its extensive archive of authentic moments from locations around the country. Real chefs. Real kitchens. Real people gathering around real food.

That authenticity became one of the most important ingredients in the redesign.

The project went on to win two Silver Awards: one for General Websites – Website Redesign and another for Website Features – Best Visual Appeal – Experience.

Our biggest takeaway? A redesign isn't about making an old website look newer. It's about building a digital experience that reflects the business and grows with it.

We Built a Website That Doesn't Feel Like a Website

Existence presented a completely different challenge.

Created by entrepreneur Rob Dyrdek, Existence is an AI-powered platform built around a fascinating idea: the way we spend our time shapes who we become.

That's a pretty big concept to squeeze into a webpage.

Instead of building another familiar SaaS landing page filled with feature grids and UI screenshots, we created a scroll-driven experience where motion, pacing, space, color, and sound help visitors feel the philosophy behind the product.

The experience unfolds deliberately. Content appears when it matters. Animation creates rhythm rather than distraction. Even the generous use of space has a purpose.

The website doesn't just explain Existence. It behaves like Existence.

That approach earned a Silver Award in General Websites – Web Applications & Services.

And it reminded us of something important: sometimes the best way to explain a new idea isn't to add more information. It's to create an experience that lets people understand the idea for themselves.

Four Awards. One Big Idea.

Green Valley, Bon Appétit, and Existence couldn't be more different on the surface.

One project needed to clarify a misconception. The second needed to bring an industry leader into a new digital era. The third had to turn an abstract philosophy into something people could experience.

But all three began the same way: by listening.

Because great web design doesn't begin with an artboard, it begins with questions:
What does this brand need people to understand?
What should visitors feel?
How do we strengthen the value proposition?
How can the website drive scalable growth?
What do we want people to do next?

The four w3 Awards are a wonderful recognition of the work our team has created in partnership with our clients. But for us, the real reward is seeing a website become a tool for telling a better story, building trust, creating connection, and helping a business move forward.
