The New CIAB Website: At the Center of a Connected Digital Ecosystem

Some websites are designed to showcase a brand. Others become an essential part of how an organization operates.

Our latest collaboration with the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB) falls firmly into the second category.

As the premier association representing the world's leading commercial insurance and employee benefits brokerages, CIAB serves an industry that is constantly evolving. Its members rely on timely insights, industry research, advocacy, events, education, and exclusive resources to stay ahead of change. The organization's digital presence needed to do more than communicate that mission; it needed to actively support it.

Together with CIAB, we created a modern website that serves as the foundation for a connected digital ecosystem, bringing together content, member experiences, events, CRM data, and marketing technologies into a seamless experience that can evolve with the organization for years to come.

At first glance, the new website feels intuitive and uncomplicated. That was entirely intentional.

Behind that streamlined experience, however, is one of the most technically sophisticated ecosystems our team has recently delivered.

The project brought together a headless architecture powered by Next.js with an ecosystem of technologies including WordPress, Salesforce, Cvent, Squiz, and Pardot. WordPress serves as the content source, while Salesforce powers identity and access, determining what different audiences can see based on membership, roles, and profile attributes. Squiz provides federated search, indexing content across multiple sites. Dynamic content is distributed intelligently throughout the site without adding friction to the user experience.

For visitors, the experience is seamless.

For our team, making it seamless required months of solving complex challenges.

One of the biggest opportunities was transforming years of scattered resources into a structured knowledge hub. Documents, reports, publications, and member content that previously lived across different systems were reorganized into a searchable, taggable content ecosystem that surfaces information wherever it's most relevant. Instead of maintaining duplicate content across multiple pages, relationships between content now work intelligently behind the scenes, making the website significantly easier to manage while delivering a far better user experience.

The gated content experience presented another unique challenge. Different membership levels, user roles, registrations, and permissions all influence what visitors can see throughout the site. Rather than creating disconnected experiences, we developed a unified system that works across Salesforce, Cvent, WordPress, and custom forms, enabling consistent access management across pages, sections, and resources.

This kind of invisible complexity reflects an important truth about modern web design, especially in industries like insurance.

The best digital experiences don't expose complexity. They absorb it.

Organizations often operate across numerous departments, platforms, databases, and business processes. A successful website isn't one that reflects that complexity; it's one that simplifies it for every visitor. The technology should do the heavy lifting so users can focus on finding information, connecting with the organization, and accomplishing their goals.

Content strategy played an equally important role throughout the project.

Insurance organizations generate an enormous amount of valuable knowledge, but information only creates value when people can actually find it. Structuring content through meaningful relationships, taxonomy, and intelligent search transforms a website from a repository of documents into a resource that actively serves its audience.

That philosophy shaped every decision we made throughout the project.

Of course, technology was only part of the story.

Delivering an initiative of this scale required careful planning, close collaboration, and an exceptional amount of coordination. Content arrived from multiple sources in varying formats and required extensive organization before it could be published.

Our design team successfully balanced an established visual language with opportunities to modernize the overall experience, creating a modular design that feels cohesive and polished rather than repetitive.

Perhaps what we're most proud of is something visitors will never notice: everything launched exactly when it was supposed to.

Large-scale digital transformations involve hundreds of moving pieces, countless dependencies, and multiple stakeholders. Delivering a project of this complexity on schedule is the result of thoughtful planning, disciplined execution, and an extraordinary team effort.

Looking back, this project reinforced something we've believed for a long time.

Your website should not be a standalone marketing asset. It should be the center of your digital ecosystem, connecting content, technology, people, and business operations into one unified experience. When done well, your site doesn't just support your organization; it helps it evolve.

We're incredibly grateful to the team at CIAB for trusting us with such an important initiative. Partnering with an organization that has shaped the commercial insurance industry for more than a century has been both an honor and a privilege.

We're excited to see the new website continue to grow alongside the organization and the industry it serves.
